The Cairns Golf Club 72 hole men’s club championships commenced last weekend with a strong line up including current City of Cairns tournament winner Frank Power, current club champion Pieter Prinsloo, Cairns Open winner Damon Caldwell, Cairns Golf Club men’s captain Ross Argent and perennial favourite Nick Duncan, who recently shot an amazing round of 66, equalling the course record.

After taking out the City of Cairns tournament in August, Frank Power has continued his winning form to secure the men’s club champion title after the final round at Cairns Golf Club yesterday. Power carded rounds of 73, 76, 73 and 76 to win the trophy with a score of 298. Holding off claims to the title by second place getter Paul Chirio (305 c/b) and last year’s champion Pieter Prinsloo (305) Power was able to convert a strong third round lead. Adam Williams won the B Grade title by three shots over Michael Love and Justin Benck who was a further shot behind whilst in C Grade, Ezy Evans won the title over a fast finishing Ian Tindall.
