Welcome to the Cairns Golf Club

Cairns Golf Club is a modern 18 Hole Championship Golf Course centrally located just minutes from the centre of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia. The Club has a fleet of 60 motorised carts is open for social play 7 days a week and has a full length floodlit driving range. We have a fully stocked Golf Shop with PGA Professionals on staff.

The modern air conditioned clubhouse seats 120 people is available for function hire.

Short par 4 opening hole with a wide fairway, but beware the bunker on the left. It is best to leave yourself with a pitch into a green that slopes away and is guarded by bunkers on either side.

Pro Tips

"The safe option on the opening hole is to lay up short of the fairway bunker on the left and water on the right with a fairway wood or long iron to the wide part of the fairway. This will leave you approx. 110 metres to an undulating green. Long hitters can take the risk with driver however the fairway does narrow the closer you get to the green."

Dogleg left par 4. Hit it over the cart path on to the inviting fairway on the right and leave yourself a wedge or short iron into the green. Don’t get too greedy off the tee or you could be in amongst the royal palms on the left.

Pro Tips

"The tee shot is very risk/reward, the widest part of the fairway is 200m from the tee leaving you 130m into the green as the safe option. For the longer hitters you can take driver to give yourself a pitch shot into the green but you must be accurate as this short hole can bite you if you don’t hit the fairway with water left and thick trees right leaving you no option than to chip out."

Miss the fairway trap on the left-hand side and you will leave yourself 100 metres in to a green that is guarded on both sides by sand traps. Admire the paperbarks on the right but to go through them is out of bounds.

Pro Tips

"Generally playing straight into the breeze, a driver of the tee on the right side of the fairway will give you a good angle into the green. Do not miss the green left as it’s a tough shot from the bunkers to a green where the ball will roll away from you very quickly."

Dogleg right par 4. Avoid the fairway trap to your left-hand side and you will probably be left with a mid to long-iron into the prevailing south-easterly wind.

Pro Tips

"The toughest hole on the golf course for a reason. Playing into the breeze, it requires a very accurate tee shot otherwise your score can add up really quickly. Do not hit it beyond the hole on this green as it slopes severely from back to front leaving you an extremely tough 2 putt."
